Fulfilling the promise of medicine for the developing world

OneWorld Health releases 2010–2011 annual report, highlights drug development milestones

Challenging the assumption that pharmaceutical research and development is too expensive to create the new medicines that people in developing countries desperately need, OneWorld Health highlights promising milestones in its recent 2010–2011 annual report.

Highlights include:

  • Promising advancements in our ongoing efforts to discover and develop drugs to treat children and adults with severe diarrhea.
  • Innovative partnerships and cutting-edge science to ensure the supply and improve access to a key malaria treatment—semisynthetic artemisinin.
  • Our continuous efforts to expand access to the drug we developed as a safe, effective, and affordable treatment for kala-azar, and cross-cutting collaborations to discover new methods for controlling and treating this deadly disease.

The report features a summary of our 2010–2011 finances and information about our new leadership, scientific advisors, and donors. It also highlights our new affiliation with PATH, an international nonprofit organization that transforms global health through innovation.
