Institute for OneWorld Health Honored As Social Enterprise of the Year by Fast Company Magazine

Non-profit Pharmaceutical Company Chosen as One of Nation's Top 10 Social Enterprises. OneWorld Health and nine other groundbreaking social enterprises were singled out for their bold and timely ideas and for innovative thinking

The Institute for OneWorld Health, the US-based non-profit pharmaceutical company that develops drugs for people with neglected infectious diseases in the developing world, today announced it has been selected to Fast Company Magazine's 2008 Social Enterprises of the Year Honor Roll. 

OneWorld Health and nine other groundbreaking social enterprises were singled out for their bold and timely ideas and for innovative thinking that can transform lives and change the world.

“We are honored to be included among the country's leading social enterprises and appreciate Fast Company and the selection committee for recognizing our efforts to provide safe, effective and affordable drugs for the world's most impoverished communities,” said Dr. Richard Chin, OneWorld Health's CEO.

Fast Company's Social Enterprise of the Year Honor Roll appears in the magazine's December 2008/January 2009 issue and online here.

In addition to OneWorld Health, other Social Enterprise Honor Roll honorees are: The Academy for Urban School Leadership, Acumen Fund, Civic Ventures, DataDyne, Do Something, Enterprise Community Partners, HopeLab, Husk Power Systems and Mercy Corps.
