AAASThe Institute for OneWorld Health hosted a distinguished group of the world’s experts in global health for an all-day seminar on Friday, February 16, at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in San Francisco. The seminar highlighted the intersection of science and global health and its positive impact on improving the health and well-being of people in the developing world.

The three-part seminar included presentations by some of the best and brightest minds in global health, unique contributors from the Bay Area, perspectives from the field and social entrepreneurs. Panel one titled “Global Hearts: The Contributions of Bay Area Professionals to Health,” featured Bay Area organizations committed to impacting global health. The second panel titled “From Inception to Implementation: Delivering Innovative Programs In Developing Countries” featured representatives from non-governmental organizations working in remote areas of developing countries. Panelists discussed the challenges and success that they experienced and cited specific examples from their own work. On the third panel “Creativity from the Outside: Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Responsibility,” panelists described how they are applying business disciplines to improve livelihoods in many different nations and to serve the greater good. The seminar was filmed by Fora TV watch all three panels here.
