Job Title: Vice President, Operations and Finance

POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Vice President of Operations and Finance supports the work of the organization's Chief Executive Officer focusing on the establishment and optimization of day-to-day operations in the organization.  S/he also oversees all financial planning and accounting practices,directing treasury, accounting, budget, fundraising, tax and audit activities.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.
 

  • Sets operational and/or performance goals for each department which are aggressive, achievable and tied to long-term goals
  • Monitors department performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made
  • Establishes and monitors performance reporting systems
  • Ensures activities comply with organizational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, and general duty of care
  • Facilitates resolution of issues between departments
  • Advises the management team on key planning issues and makes recommendations on important business decisions
  • Responsible for resource allocation
  • Establishes operational processes/ process improvement
  • Manages strategy implementation, in particular regarding budgets and timelines
  • Provides leadership and direction for all facets of the Finance department
  • Establishes and implements short and long- term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Assumes ultimate responsibility for annual financial and compliance audits, and for IRS and state reporting
  • Ensures organizational compliance with IRS regulations, and with GAAP, FASB and AICPA guidelines
  • Directs and oversees the development of annual operating budgets, monthly projections, and short- and long-term financial forecasts
  • Provides timely, accurate, and relevant financial information to the CEO concerning the financial stability, liquidity, and growth of the organization
  • Ensures there is adequate cash flow to meet the organization’s needs and that cash flow projections are reported and provided to the executive leadership team
  • Analyzes, interprets, and presents relevant financial data to the executive leadership team and the Board
  • Coordinates ongoing and critical financial analysis activities of iOWH’s operations
  • Attends Board meetings as requested
  • Identifies new funding opportunities and determines the cost effectiveness of new business initiatives
  • Provides input and analysis on current and proposed business activities

Job Requirements:

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or Masters degree preferred
  • Experience with drug development, ideally from preclinical to post-approval, is strongly desired
  • Experience with global health is a major plus
  • Experience as senior management team is a major plus
  • Excellent understanding of finance
  • Attention to detail, ability to plan, to create contingency plan, and to deliver results on time and on budget
  • Ability to manage change
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • The ability to set priorities
  • Excellent communication skills
